Benefits of Goal-Setting

One of the most essential tasks for any individual or group to be successful is effective goal setting. Goal setting is a first step in leading you and your team's performance. I believe goals are critical to motivation. Setting a goal provides energy and focus. In fact, when I have set goals, it has assisted me in accomplishing what I may not have thought possible. Goals setting is about what you are able to realistically achieve, not what you aspire to achieve.

Once goals are set, reassess them. Take time to reevaluate and make the necessary changes. Reviewing goals helps measure progress and ensure they're still relevant. Some goals can be accomplished quickly, but others require patience and motivation.

Benefits of Goal-setting:

1- Gives you a track to run on so you can see where you have to go.

2- Makes you aware of your strengths, which can be used to overcome obstacles and provide solutions to problems.

3- Makes you aware of your weaknesses so you can begin to improve them and make them your strengths. 

4- Provides a stimulus for present successes. 

5- Helps you visualize.

6- Forces you to set priorities.

7- Defines reality and separates it from wishful thinking. 

8- Serves as a criterion to sharpen decision making.
